Royal Caribbean has removed Icy Strait Point from Anthem of the Seas' May 7, 2027 Alaska cruise, citing speed restrictions as the reason for the change. The 4,180-guest ship was originally scheduled to visit Icy Strait Point on May 9, followed by scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier and calls at Sitka and Ketchikan, returning to Vancouver on May 14.
The cancelled visit will be replaced by an additional sea day, and the Ketchikan stop has been shortened by two hours. Hubbard Glacier scenic cruising and the call at Sitka, known for its Russian heritage and wildlife, remain unchanged. A guest shared the notice, which was received on October 21, 2026, in a Facebook group.
Royal Caribbean confirmed that all shore excursions prepaid through the cruise line for Icy Strait Point will be automatically cancelled, with refunds issued within 14 business days. Icy Strait Point is owned and operated by Huna Totem Corporation, an Alaska Native village corporation with Tlingit ties to Hoonah and the Glacier Bay region. The line has not disclosed the specific nature of the speed restrictions involved.
