Steel cutting for Carnival Destiny took place at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, marking the beginning of construction on the first of three vessels in a next-generation class officially named Ace Class, with the ship arriving in summer 2029. The name honors the cruise line's original Carnival Destiny, its first ship larger than 100,000 gross tons, which debuted in 1996.
Early specs put the new ship at roughly 230,000 gross tons, with capacity for nearly 8,000 guests at maximum and more than 4.5 acres of glass across the vessel. The Ace Class will also feature over 70 percent new public venues and concepts compared to anything currently in the Carnival fleet. Carnival Destiny is being designed to become the most outward-facing megaship at sea, centering the ocean view as a core experience across more spaces on the ship.
Two additional Ace Class ships are planned to follow Carnival Destiny in 2031 and 2033 respectively. As of mid-July 2026, the homeport, specific itineraries, sailing lengths, departure dates, and a booking-open date had not yet been announced. Carnival has said further details will come later in 2026 and into 2027, which means price-tracking on these sailings remains months away.
