Legend of the Seas carried its first paying guests on July 4, 2026, making it the first Icon Class ship to launch in Europe rather than the Caribbean. The 5,610-passenger vessel is currently sailing seven-night Western Mediterranean itineraries from Civitavecchia and Barcelona, visiting ports in Italy, France, and Spain. It will reposition to Fort Lauderdale in November for Caribbean sailings. Royal Caribbean's own website lists 28 dining venues aboard, seven pools, and what it describes as the largest waterpark at sea.
Built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, the ship cost more than $2 billion according to an SEC filing. It is fractionally larger than its sisters Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, giving it the current title of world's largest cruise ship. Early reviewer sailings in late June drew significant online coverage, with travel writers noting the ship's updated version of the Pearl art installation and enhanced lighting throughout the Royal Promenade as meaningful upgrades over the prior two Icon Class vessels.
For cruisers considering a future booking, Legend splits its year between Mediterranean summers and Fort Lauderdale winters, with a confirmed return to Europe for the full 2027 summer season. That makes it the first Icon Class ship slated for a back-to-back transatlantic deployment.
