Norwegian Cruise Line ranked last among 19 ocean cruise lines in a new Consumer Reports satisfaction survey drawn from responses by 18,850 members. Participants rated the most recent ocean cruise they had taken in the past 36 months, with scores built from factors including value for money, food quality and variety, customer service, shore excursions, and onboard entertainment. Only three cruise lines earned Consumer Reports' Recommended designation across the entire field.
The timing is awkward for NCL. The line is also days away from reporting its Q2 2026 financials on July 30, and it has been managing a string of mechanical problems across its fleet this summer, including prolonged propulsion repairs on Norwegian Bliss and Norwegian Sun. Consumer Reports' survey was conducted in January 2026, before much of that turbulence began.
For travelers comparing lines, the survey adds a concrete data point on how real passengers rate the NCL experience. Deal hunters who book NCL primarily on price should weigh the satisfaction gap, particularly on categories like food and value, where the line scored poorly against peers.
