Norwegian Cruise Line has confirmed September 4, 2026 as the grand opening date for Great Tides Waterpark at Great Stirrup Cay, its private Bahamian island. The first guests through the gates will be passengers sailing aboard Norwegian Luna on a seven-day Caribbean itinerary departing Miami on August 29. Day passes went on sale in late May 2026 for any guest booked on a Great Stirrup Cay sailing on or after the opening date.
Spanning nearly six acres, the park is anchored by a 170-foot Tidal Tower that houses the Breakwater Blasters, described by NCL as the industry's first water coasters with both downhill drops and uphill propulsion inside inner tubes. The full lineup runs to 19 slides and attractions, including mat racers, tube slides, and Cliffside Cove, which NCL says features the industry's first and highest cliff jumps. A 9,000-square-foot kids' zone called Splash Cay and an 800-foot adventure river round out the offering, along with three new food trucks and private cabanas for up to six guests.
The waterpark is the latest phase of a multi-year investment in Great Stirrup Cay that has already added the Great Life Lagoon beach-entry pool with swim-up bars, the adults-only Vibe Shore Club, and an island-wide tram system. NCL president Marc Kazlauskas positioned the park as the next step in making Great Stirrup Cay the leading private island destination in the Bahamas.
