Royal Caribbean notified travel advisors on Oct. 30 that it is extending its suspension of visits to Labadee, its private beach destination on Haiti's north coast, through April 2028. The update affects 44 itineraries spread across nine ships, including Adventure of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, Star of the Seas, and Freedom of the Seas. The previous extension had covered visits only through July 2027, meaning this round adds another 10 months to an already lengthy pause.
Depending on sailing date and ship routing, Labadee stops are being swapped for calls at Grand Turk, Amber Cove, Cozumel, Samana, or additional sea days. Royal Caribbean said all pre-booked shore excursions will be refunded automatically. Gang violence across Haiti has been the stated reason for the continuous suspensions, and this marks the third time the cruise line has pushed the closure further into the future. If visits do not resume until at least May 2028, guests will face a gap of roughly three years without access to the 260-acre beachfront property the line has operated since 1988.
