Royal Caribbean officially took delivery of Legend of the Seas on June 10, 2026, following nearly two years of construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. More than 1,200 crew members and partners gathered for the handover ceremony, which was led by Royal Caribbean Group CEO Jason Liberty, Royal Caribbean President Michael Bayley, and Meyer Turku CEO Casimir Lindholm.
Legend is the third ship in the Icon Class, joining Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas as one of the largest cruise ships in the world. It will open its first revenue sailings on July 4 with seven-night Western Mediterranean itineraries from Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia), then reposition to Fort Lauderdale in November for six-night and eight-night Caribbean sailings, all including a stop at Perfect Day CocoCay.
The ship packs 28 dining options, described by Royal Caribbean as the most at sea, including three new venues: Hollywoodland Supper Club, an old-Hollywood-themed multi-course experience; Royal Railway, a five-course immersive train dining journey; and AquaDome Market, a food hall with five concepts. Entertainment spans stage, air, water, and ice, with productions including Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and America's Got Talent LIVE.
Legend is Royal Caribbean's fourth ship powered by liquefied natural gas and incorporates waste heat recovery systems and shore power connectivity. The delivery falls under the line's long-term agreement with Meyer Turku, which locks in shipbuilding capacity through 2036 and covers five additional Icon Class ships scheduled between 2028 and 2030.
